The Animated Series' Showrunner Is Aware of Your Season 2 Bingo Cards — With Some Good News

The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been intense.

Season 1 presents a diverse group of personalities living within the afterlife, pits them against each other with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.

The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner commented recently. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.

That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.

"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."

She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.

"I've come across a few fans make a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."

Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on Prime Video on October 29.
